The Pediatric Assessment Triangle; Taking it to the next level

The Pediatric Assessment Triangle is a quick and easy method of identifying life threatening issues and gives prehospital employees the tools to stay systematic so that no life-threatening issues are missed. However, this assessment tool is still underutilized. This program discusses additional methods of evaluation.

Overview.

This lecture looks at the three sides of the triangle and what it means if a patient is presenting in a manner that effects their Appearance, Breathing or Circulation. What is not typically discussed in these lectures is what it means if multiple sides of the triangle are affected. These situations present sicker children and the need for more aggressive care. This lecture outlines what these sick children would look like and how aggressive we should be in their care, Up to and including respiratory support and resuscitation. This presentation is a one hour presentation and was very well received when presented through the CHOP Grand rounds program
